About Us

The winery

On the beautiful Monterosso hill, in the spa town Acqui Terme (AL), the organic winery Bellati Maria Carla is located at 300 meters above sea level.

Established at the end of the nineteenth century, it has since dealt with the cultivation of vineyards and the transformation of grapes into prestigious DOC and DOCG wine.
Our winery has chosen and used the organic cultivation method since 2000. This hasn't affected the operational and technical aspects of the production. On the contrary, we owe it to the Earth and above all to the producers and their health. Over the years, we've received numerous awards; from competition prizes  to the green flag. Since 2004 Bellati Maria Carla has become a supplier of Coop Liguria, and has presented its products for tasting in shopping centres.
The family-run winery, directly deals with the cultivation of vineyards following the traditional method, with ancient methods passed down from generation to generation. Natural substances such as sulphur, lime and copper are used, flanked by new herbal preparations obtained from medicinal herbs such as nettle, horsetail and garlic, which help plants to defend themselves. As an insecticide, only pyrethrum, an extract of natural origin, is used and artificial nests are placed to host insectivorous birds.

Fertilisation is exclusively obtained from plants, through grass planting in alternating rows, varying from year to year the range of herbs for proper management of the soil in support of its fertility.

During the month of August, the bunches are thinned out, which allows for low yields and excellent wine quality.

From grapes to wine

The transformation of the grapes into wine takes place in our authorised and certified cellar, in compliance with strict hygiene and public health regulations.

Even during the actual process, strict guidelines are followed. The containers are in stainless steel or in wood.

The grapes are destemmed and softly crushed and fermentation takes place in steel barrels.

Monitoring checks are frequent.

Bottling is carried out using only natural corks and glass bottles following the analysis carried out by SINERGO study centre in Nice, which provides the company with oenological consulting.
The children are our grandchildren, who roam freely in the vineyards cleaned of chemicals. The grass is a mixture that is sown for plant fertilization and every year varieties of seeds are changed to determine BIODIVERSITY.
The artificial nest is home to the cheerful titmouse that feeds on small insects in order to integrate biological control.
The wines are certified and every year we carry out a multiresidual research in the finished wine as required by the HACCP
